Your child’s first dental appointment is an important one. At Cranbourne Road Dental Care we have free children’s check-ups on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (please call ahead to confirm the times on each day).We will always aim to make your child’s first appointment a positive experience.
All children are different, but in general most children are happy to ‘go for a ride in the chair’ by about three years of age. At this age most children will have all of their baby teeth and It is a good age to try their first routine dental appointment. This appointment will likely only be a ‘ride in the chair’ and hopefully your child will be happy enough to open their mouth wide so the dentist can ‘count their teeth’. This is a great, non- threatening, fun way for your child to get used to coming to the dentist. It can also be an opportunity for parents or caregivers to discuss any concerns or questions they may have in relation to their child’s dental health.
Of course if you have a child younger than three years of age and have any concerns about their dental health please call our rooms and you will be advised if these free check up’s are suitable or whether you may best be served with a booked appointment.
If any concerns are noted at this appointment we will let you know and advise you of an appropriate form of action.
The free childrens check-ups on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons are also available to all school age children. Likewise if any concerns are noted you will be advised of an appropriate form of action. For those children who are eligible for treatment under the Child Dental Benefits Scheme under Medicare we will only charge the Medicare scheduled fees so that 100% of treatment up to $1000 can be claimed back from Medicare.
